First responders in Aberdeen were called to the 1900 block of Perryman Road in Aberdeen on Monday, March 6, where there was a reported fire that broke out outside a split-level single-family home.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal, it took a crew of more than two dozen firefighters from the Aberdeen Fire Department less than a half hour to get the flames under control, but not before it caused an estimated $125,000 ($75,000 to the structure, $50,000 to its contents) in damages.
The majority of the fire was contained to the exterior of the Perryman Road home, with a minor extension into the interior of the residence. An adult and child were both displaced and are now being assisted by family members.
No injuries were reported. Officials may note that there were smoke alarms present, but they did not activate due to the fire originating on a deck outside the home.
